There’s something about the cooler weather that makes us want to snuggle up on the couch with a warm comfy blanket and snack. I’ve noticed that the boys are snacking a lot more during the day. Maybe it’s them just being growing boys. Maybe it’s the weather.

After taking notice of the grazing going on, I needed to reevaluate what they {ok, all of us} were snacking on. Pretzels. Cheez-Itz. Left over Halloween candy. Not the best choices.

In an effort to snack better, we picked up some Outshine Fruit Bars when at the store. Outshine Fruit Bars are made with natural real fruit or fruit juice, no high-fructose corn syrup and are gluten-free. Many flavors are an excellent source of Vitamin C.

Since I wanted the boys to have better snacks, I let them do the choosing when it came to flavors. Ethan chose Grape while Ben chose Strawberry. If anything, I knew there would be some yummy flavors for me in the freezer!

Having healthy choices in the house makes snacking healthier easier! There’s no excuse when the pantry and freezer are stocked with good choices.  And I have noticed that the boys are asking for the Fruit Bars. That doesn’t mean we don’t have the occasional cookie here and there.

But by choosing healthier snacks, we are shining with the other choices we are making as well. More veggies at dinner. Asking for fruit with breakfast. The little choices all start adding up! And I just now come summertime {which feels like is so, so far away}, the Outshine Fruit Bars will be a staple to keep cool.

But for now, we won’t be just snacking, we will be snacking brighter!
