It’s that time of year again! Where we spend most of our nights and weekends at the baseball field! Our busiest time of year as just begun and, if I am being 100% honest, I can’t wait for it!

One of the things I do before every season is get my game bag ready! That’s right. Mom has a game bag too. It’s packed with everything and anything we could possibly need during the game.  We have been actively involved in sports for a few years now so this momma knows what she needs to have in her game day bag to survive anything her kids may throw at her.

The first thing in my game day bag is always the the First Aid Kit. Before each season, I make sure that my first aid kit is fully stocked. While the fields have their own kits, I have found that they usually aren’t in the most convenient places. So if a kids needs first aid, it’s easier for me to grab it out of my bag then run around the field looking for one. You can buy a standard kit at the store but I also add a few things like good tweezers and an ice pack so I am always ready.

Next, I grab the Inhalers. Both of my boys have asthma and they don’t let that get in their way of playing sports. I always make sure both of their inhalers are in the bag (whether they are the one playing or not). If your child needs an Epi Pen or any other type of medication, make sure you keep some in your game bag.

Another thing I sometimes tend to forget is sunscreen! So I started keeping an extra bottle in the bag so it’s always there.

Add another layer of protection, a blanket. One of the things that makes my allergies itch is sitting in the grass. That’s why I keep a blanket in the bag in case there aren’t any bleachers or seating for us. This keeps us off the grass and the allergens away.

You will need extra water! I always make sure there is a spare water bottle or two in the bag. And not just for hydration! You can use the extra water to wash off cuts or dirty hands as well.

And don’t forget the snacks. Especially if you are going to be out on the fields for a long day. Pack granola bars and protein heavy snacks with nuts and fresh fruit is always a hit (we like to do orange slices)!

Consider keeping a spare change of clothes. This step is optional. We, fortunately, live 5 minutes from our baseball field so it wouldn’t take long to run home for a change of clothes. But, you may want to consider keeping a spare set in your bag because you just never know when they might need a change of clothes!

Bonus! During games, I leave my cell phone on the top of the bag. In my phone, I have a note stored with emergency contacts (ICE). This way if something happened to any one of us during a game, all someone would have to do is grab my phone for emergency numbers.

Having this bag at the ready by the front door saves me time on game day! It’s also great for grabbing when going on day trips or a simple trip to the park!
