When the weather starts to get cooler and the leaves start falling, it means only one thing in my family. It’s time for get togethers! There are so many opportunities during the cooler months for the family to gather and spend quality time together.

One of the cornerstones of our get togethers is good food.

Everyone is usually in charge of bringing something so that one person isn’t stuck making it all. I tend to lean towards making a dessert but appetizers have slowly become my new go-to. I mean it’s quick and simple when you have favorite to bring.

A crowd favorite at our parties is gucamole, salsa, and chips. Everyone is always snacking on chips throughout the night.

5 Tips for a Simple and Stress Free Holiday Party

5 Tips for a Simple and Stress Holiday

1. Make a list. Sit down and write everything out from food to decorations to the guest list. Which leads me to…

2. Split the work load. If everyone is willing, divvy up the work! Have some one bring the appetizers and desserts and just focus on the main meal. Have a friend who is crafty? Ask them to be in charge of decorations.

3. Create a simple menu. I always have high aspirations for trying this really cool recipe when I am having people over. And then when it doesn’t come out right, I am scrambling for a back up. By keeping a simple menu, you can focus on being with your friends and family and not being stuck in the kitchen.

4. Tidy Up. Your house does not have to be immaculate. I repeat, your house does not have to be immaculate. Focus on tidying up the rooms that will be used for the party and close the doors to the other rooms!

5. Sit back and enjoy. Things always go wrong when hosting a party. But don’t sweat it! No one will know that there was supposed to be decorative napkins instead of the plain white ones that you accidentially put out.
