It’s not even August and I am already thinking about Back to School. Soon summer workbooks will be replaced with homework and we are gonna need some supplies for that. It also didn’t help that his school supply list landed in my inbox last weekend gently reminding that the first day of school would be here soon. Didn’t summer just start? But I will admit that I have given in and did some back to school shopping this weekend. Why? Deals of course! I scored some pretty cheap school supplies by using the Walgreen’s app and their paperless coupons.
Walgreens Paperless Coupons are manufacturer eCoupons that can be ‘clipped’ to your own Balance Rewards account and redeemed when you purchase to product. To redeem, you scan your Balance Rewards Card (via the App on your phone, the actual card or by punching in your phone number) at checkout and it automatically is applied.
This is HUGE for me because I am forever forgetting my coupons at home. The app eliminates the need to use scissors to cut coupons or remember to bring them to the store. You just need to remember to sync your Balance Rewards membership to the Mobile App to get started. Each paperless coupon can only be used once. Once it is redeemed it will be deleted from your coupon list.
When looking through the ad this week, I noticed there were some great deals on school supplies such as a box of pencils for only $.39! I mean, who could pass that offer up? So off to Walgreens I went with my school supply list in hand.
Since Ethan is going into First Grade (when did that happen?), he doesn’t have a massive school supply list.
First Grade Supply List
- 1 block eraser
- 2 large glue sticks
- 2 boxes of #2 pencils
- 1 sock (to be used an eraser) or white board eraser
- 1 box of 24 crayons
- 1 box of tissues
- 1 bottle of hand sanitizer
- 1 pack of sticky notes
While I didn’t get everything on my list, I was able to knock quite a bit off and stock up on a few other supplies I like to have on hand (folders and notebooks). I grabbed the glues sticks, TWO boxes of crayons, pencils, sticky notes and hand sanitizer. For a total of $9.42. Yes, you read that right. I bought almost his entire school supply list for under $10!
In total, I saved $7.77 (I should play the lottery)! I just need to grab a few things remaining on the list and the ever important lunch box and we will be set for September.
And it’s only July!
Have you started getting ready for Back to School? Have you bought anything yet?
