There are 59 days until Christmas and I am deep in the process of putting together my Holiday Gift Guide to help you pick the best gifts for everyone on your list.

A few weeks ago, I was invited to The Toy Insider’s Holiday of Play to check out the top toys that will surely be on your child’s list this year. And there was BIG theme this year: STEM.

In case you don’t know what STEM is, STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education. These areas are focused on together not only because the skills and knowledge in each discipline are essential for student success, but also because these fields are deeply intertwined in the real world and in how students learn most effectively.

One of the brand’s leading the charge with STEM based toys is HEXBUG’S. I had a chance to play around with some of their STEM “toys” at Toy Fair 2014 and understand the concepts and principles behind their brand.
